Frequently, the representative will be able to drop your interest rate, or will be able to offer you other perks. (If the first representative who answers isn't able to help you, politely thank them, and call again at a different time. Another customer service representative may know of a loophole in the regulations, may have leeway to cut you a better deal, or may simply be more willing to go the extra mile for you. ) The worst the company can do is say no. If they're not willing to lower your rates, switch to another card that offers you better rates up front.
