There is certainly nothing stopping you from doing the same today if you wish, although you can hardly expect everyone who comes across your blog to be interested in the minutiae of your day to day life. Instead of merely posting about your day to day activities, it may better serve your blog to write on a certain theme or subject. You should strive to write from a position of authority. You will greatly increase the chances of your blog's success if the subject that you are writing about is something that you are passionate about or at least have some degree of familiarity in. This doesn't necessarily mean that you will have to be a recognized expert on the subject, although it would help to have more than a casual interest in what your blog is all about.
